Metro will not operate bus service on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Regular service will resume Tuesday, September 8.

🚍 Service Detour Update!

Metro riders, please be aware of the following temporary service changes:

Route 1 – Westnedge: Due to a gas line break, Route 1 is currently detouring via Forrest Avenue to Merrill Street to Howard Street, where it will resume its regular route.

Route 12 – Duke: Due to road paving, Route 12 is currently able to service the YMCA on outbound trips only.

Please plan accordingly and allow additional travel time. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these temporary detours are in place.

A New Look at Rood Hall! Before & After 🚍

The Rood Hall loading zone at Western Michigan University is officially back in service with a brand-new look!

Recent improvements include new shelter canopies and windscreens with benches, a bicycle storage shelter, and new ADA-compliant concrete to create a more comfortable and accessible waiting area for riders.

Additional improvements, including an emergency call box with cameras, are also planned for the area.

We’re excited to welcome riders back to the updated Rood Hall stop!

Throwback Thursday: A Ride Back to the 1980s 🚌

These photos capture a piece of Kalamazoo Metro history, including our Transit Rodeo, where our maintenance team and drivers put their skills to work.

Also featured is our 1979 GMC RT82, a bus that stayed in service for an incredible 18 years and reached 1 million miles. At the time, buses typically retired around 12 years or 500,000 miles.

Reaching that milestone speaks to the dedication, skill, and care of our maintenance team and everyone who helped keep Metro moving.

A lot has changed over the years, but our commitment to serving Kalamazoo continues!
