YOU GUYS!!!! I have been waiting to share this and I can FINALLY ANNOUNCE IT!!! 🎉

Colors & Cocktails has officially been named one of the TOP FOUR FINALISTS for Woman-Owned Business of the Year in the 2026 Chamber’s Choice Awards!!! 🏆

TOP FOUR!! 🤩

I am SO excited, incredibly honored and honestly just really proud of this small business and how far we have come.

Twelve years ago, Colors & Cocktails started with an idea and a dream of creating something that brought people together and made them happy.

And look at us now. 🥹

Even though this award is called “Woman-Owned Business of the Year,” this recognition is SO much bigger than me. Colors & Cocktails is our incredible team, our local artists and makers, our customers, our friends and family, and every person who has walked through our doors, taken a class, celebrated something special with us, shopped with us, shared a post, told a friend or simply cheered us on.

YOU helped us get here.

The Chamber said something in their email that really got me - our community saw the impact we make and said so, out loud.

THAT. 🥹

Our mission has always been bringing happiness to people through art. To know that our community sees what we’re doing and believes we’re making a difference means more to me than I can put into words.

The winner will be announced Thursday, September 17th! (And obviously I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear them call Colors & Cocktails) 😂🏆

But whatever happens that day, being named one of the TOP FOUR Woman-Owned Businesses of the Year is HUGE, and I am really, really proud.

Yesterday’s news about Dolly made me think about just how much this sweet woman has woven her way into so many of our lives. 💗

Growing up in Franklin, Tennessee, Dolly was a household name. She was just…Dolly. 🫶

I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting her when I was in the 4th grade. Her niece went to my elementary school and Dolly came to our school for the day. I remember her being every bit as kind, sweet and petite as you would picture her to be. 🥹💗

And now I’m determined to dig through my childhood things to find my old school picture and the sweet autograph I have from her. I KNOW it’s somewhere. 🥹🫶

Fast forward many years and this Tennessee girl ended up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, opening a colorful little art studio, boutique, and gallery. 🎨💗 When I started sourcing items for Colors & Cocktails, I found a wonderful company just across the lake from us in Chicago called The Found. I have loved SO many of the items we’ve carried from them over the years, but I’ve always had an extra soft spot for all of their Dolly items. 🌈🦋

I love when someone comes into the shop, sees our Dolly tote and immediately lights up. There is almost always a story or an “I LOVE DOLLY!” that follows.

And if you know me, you also know I even fondly named my pink Jeep Dolly. 💗😍 Because really…what ELSE was I supposed to name a bright pink Jeep?! Colorful, fun, a little over the top and definitely not afraid to stand out! 💕

I think that’s part of what made Dolly so special. She showed us that you can be kind AND bold. Sweet AND strong. You can laugh, have fun, wear the sparkles and still do an incredible amount of good in this world. 💗

So today I’m feeling especially grateful for this little connection to my Tennessee roots and for a woman who gave all of us so many reasons to smile.

May we all be a little more like Dolly. 🫶

Be kind. Be colorful. Have some fun. Wear the pink. ✨ And dare to be exactly who you are meant to be.
