There are severe Thunderstorms popping up in the area. Some warnings have been issued.
NOTE: There are NO tornado watches or warnings in the area currently. Another weather page has posted that, but we only use NWS data and no hype.

Russel Brook Campsite near Roscoe is reporting a possible tornado or straight line wind incident. One fatality and many injuries.

As we get into storm season it may be handy for us all to understand what the NWS watches, warnings, and advisories mean. This applies to all storms year round.
Note: if a warning is issued from the National Weather Service, you should take shelter and / or prepare for the threat immediately.

The risk for severe storms is now a 3 out of 5 for NEPA, the Catskills, and a small portion of the Southern Tier. A line of storms is expected to develop over CNY and then move south Sunday afternoon and evening. While damaging winds will be the main threat, all hazards will be in play.

Do not look at or stare at the eclipse without proper eye protection. And sunglasses are not proper protection.
Even a few seconds of “peeking “ can cause permanent eye damage or even blindness.
