I (Truax) finished the Quick Start Guide for the Swordhaven Live Action Roleplaying Game. Clocking in at a slim 23 pages including lore and pre gen exemplar characters, it's designed to get someone playing with a minimum of effort. NPCing requires even less.

Swordhaven is a game that is not easily described, though it is broadly a retro science fiction game. You could think of it as Star Trek the Original Series but you have Ring Gates instead of Transporters and no one has even HEARD of the prime directive. Meddle with fascinating and terrifying cultures. Enjoy close encounters with a huge variety of alien creatures, each with their own ecology. Befriend or battle bipeds from the Godlike to barely sapient. Puzzles! Treasure! Spinblades! War!

If you're interested in Larping, check it out. Next event just over a week away on August 16th and 17th.

Hey Everyone! Please note that Set Up day this year has been moved from Saturday April 26 to Sunday April 27, mostly so some of us can sneak off to Silent Night on Saturday. Set up day is a big deal with a busy season and Swordhaven the next weekend. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the work day today! There was work, pizza, and gamebucks abound. Most of town is hunkered down for the winter and the new stage is built and in place.

I keep working on my big costumes over time. Not there yet, but this one is getting close.

As a final post script to the MASI work week, many thanks to Brandin Turner who replaced the Privy Roofs!

The Maine Adventure Society Inc. has some site funds generously donated for improvements. I'd like to use some of them to tackle a vexing problem - cloaks. There are lots of great NPC cloaks, some heavy wool which are awesome when it's cold. However, the rough treatment they receive inevitably means that whatever closure they have breaks or tears off. I need some crazy solid cloak pins. It seems like every cloak pin I've ever had has bent or broken, but somebody must make something we could use for a reasonable price. Anybody have a recommendation you have personal experience with? Googling I can do myself.

Thanks!

MASI work Week, day 6 dawning. We got a ton of stuff done yesterday - Dave Cormier fixed the game truck door, we added a ton of trim, hauled away the Guard Wagon for transport to its new home at Burgundar: The LARP Location for Southern Maine, hauled away the random woodstove that's been out there for nearly 30 years. Plus the gates getting hung back up. What's left to do? Well, plenty. We're going to do more trim - it looks great and makes the place seem more finished. Ty is going to snake the lake MASI drain. We're going to get the Mines repaired, and then do some brush removal and trail work. Rake the tavern roof, finish cleaning out UNDER the buildings (the interiors are mostly done).

Lots of stuff getting done. Ty Guerin and I have repaired the damaged gates and doors!
