A swim spa is not a big hot tub. It is a different vehicle.

Sixteen to eighteen feet long and heavy enough that a flatbed pickup is not the answer. This one moved on a tow truck, shrink-wrapped, with the cover strapped separately.

That is why a swim spa costs more than a standard tub. It is not a markup. It is a different truck and a different crew day.

The other end matters just as much. A swim spa needs a pad actually rated to hold it and a path wide enough that it is not threading between the house and the AC unit with an inch to spare. We would rather find that out on a walkthrough than on delivery day with the thing already on the truck.

Not every hot tub we pick up is going to a new backyard.

A good number of them are just done. The owner wants the slab back and the thing gone, and they have been putting it off because getting rid of one is its own problem.

We take it out and haul it away on the same trip. One crew, one day, slab clear. No second contractor, no pile left in the yard waiting on someone else.

Moving one, or finished with one? Either way it is the same phone call, and we would rather see a photo of it before we quote than guess.

People find us for spas and then ask whether we can move the shed. Or the safe, or the cold plunge, or the swim spa, or the sauna nobody else would touch. The answer is usually yes, because it is the same skill either way: work out how the weight wants to move before you make it move.

This one came up off its base on an air bag instead of getting dragged across the yard.

That is the difference between a moving crew and four guys and a hand truck. Anybody can lift something heavy once. Getting it up, across, and back down without cracking it, gouging the siding, or tearing up the grass is the actual work.

People assume a hot tub mover only works a few zip codes. Since April we have run jobs from Dahlonega and Mineral Bluff in the mountains down through Cu***ng, Marietta, Acworth and Decatur, out to Monroe and Newnan โ€” and across the line into South Carolina when the job called for it.

Home base is Jefferson, so Braselton, Hoschton, Commerce, Winder and Athens are a normal Tuesday. Everything past that is just a longer drive, and the drive is rarely the hard part.

If you are wondering whether you are too far out, you probably are not. Ask.

Nobody warns you that the hard part of getting a hot tub is not buying it. It is the sixty feet between where the truck can park and where you actually want it sitting.

That is the whole job. We measure the path before we roll โ€” gate width, the side yard, how many steps, the slope, whether the ground is soft enough to sink a dolly. Then it gets padded, strapped to rigid spa dollies, and set dead level on the pad.

Level matters more than people think. A tub sitting off-level puts the stress on the shell instead of the frame, and once it is full of water nobody is nudging it over.

Getting one delivered and not sure it will make it to the back? Send us two photos: one standing at the pad shooting toward the street, one standing at the street shooting back. Those two tell us more than a paragraph does.

This is what people picture when they hear their hot tub has to go up to a second-story deck.

It is usually not what happens.

Most of the time we build a ramp and walk the tub up it. No crane, no crane truck, no crane bill. What decides it is not how high the deck sits โ€” it is how heavy the tub is. Past a certain weight a ramp stops being the safe answer, and we will tell you that straight.

But if somebody quoted you a crane just because your deck is off the back of the house, get a second opinion. That is real money that often does not need to be spent.

Send us photos of the deck and the path up to it and we will tell you which one your job is โ€” before you pay anything.
