The Twin Arches in Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area are the kind of sandstone formations most people associate with trips out West.
Big South Fork Country is a good resource for planning the wider trip. There is enough here to build a weekend around trails, overlooks, river gorges, and horseback riding without packing every stop into one day.
Fentress County works well as a basecamp, and Jamestown keeps you close to the park while still giving you a small-town place to reset.
