Big moves are underway at the Port of Los Angeles.

Yusen Terminals has secured a new 30-year lease through 2056 and committed an additional $200 million toward zero-emission cargo-handling equipment. The terminal currently handles approximately 1.5 million TEUs annually and serves major ocean carriers, including ONE, Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, Wan Hai and Yang Ming.

Long-term investments like this strengthen port infrastructure, improve supply-chain reliability and help prepare the freight industry for a cleaner, more efficient future.

Truckload spot rates are climbing at a pace not seen since the pandemic, according to freight broker RXO. The company's spot rate index surged 32.4% year over year in the second quarter — the biggest sequential gain in five years — and is up 43% year over year so far in the third quarter. With capacity tight and peak season approaching, the pressure on shippers is only expected to grow.
