This week, Tom Tisa, Jordan Lee, Pablo Gonzales, and Josh Monroe represented Patriot Rail at the NS Short Line Conference, where they connected with Norfolk Southern leaders, participated in business unit discussions, and engaged with fellow short line railroads from across the network.

Events like these provide an important opportunity to share perspectives, strengthen relationships, and collaborate on the future of freight rail.

A great example of what can happen when teams come together to find innovative solutions for our customers.

The Commercial, Engineering, and Transportation teams recently partnered with Okolona Metal & Iron, a scrap and recycling operation located along our Napoleon, Defiance & Western Railway (NDW) in Northwest Ohio, to help bring rail service directly to their facility.

What started as an idea to repurpose used rail from an ongoing track project quickly evolved into a collaborative effort involving the customer, Patriot Rail teams, and our partner Vision Industrial. Through careful planning, coordination, and ex*****on, a new customer track was constructed, providing Okolona Metal & Iron with direct rail access and opening new logistics opportunities for their business.

A special thank you to Shaun Bruinix, Alan Woodyard, Chad Schwaiger, the NDW Maintenance of Way team, and our partners at Vision Industrial for the hard work and dedication that made this project a reality.

We are proud to officially welcome Okolona Metal & Iron as a new rail-served customer on the NDW.

Patriot Rail's Commercial team members Ricardo Chacon and Jordan Lee had a great time connecting with customers, industry partners, and transportation leaders at the Railway Industrial Clearance Association's (RICA) Annual Event in Tampa last week.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the evolving needs of the heavy and dimensional freight market, strengthen industry relationships, and showcase Patriot Rail's network of railroads, transload facilities, and industrial development capabilities.

Thank you to the RICA team for hosting another outstanding event and bringing together professionals from across the transportation industry. We appreciate the valuable conversations and look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships throughout the year.

🎓 Graduation season is here, and we know many graduates are looking for the perfect photo to celebrate their achievement.

But railroad tracks are never a safe place for pictures.

Tracks are active, private property. Trains can approach from either direction, operate on any track at any time, and often appear farther away and slower than they actually are.

This Safety Sunday, we encourage graduates, families, and photographers to choose a safer location for those milestone photos.

Don't let a celebration end in tragedy.

Stay off the tracks. Arrive home safely.

Today, Patriot Rail honors the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Across our rail properties, teams are taking time to recognize and remember those who served our nation. At Gettysburg & Northern Railroad, employees prepared Locomotive 3833 for Memorial Day by washing and displaying flags representing the branches of the U.S. military as a tribute to veterans, active-duty military, and the fallen heroes we honor today.

As guests visit Gettysburg Railway throughout the holiday, the displayed locomotive serves as a visible reminder of gratitude, sacrifice, and service.

From all of us at Patriot Rail, we remember and honor America’s fallen heroes and thank all who have served our country.

Safety Sunday: Portable Wheelchair Lift Training in Gettysburg

This month, team members participated in hands-on training with the portable wheelchair lift led by their Safety Manager, Elijah Hale, to help ensure every guest can board and deboard safely and comfortably.

Accessibility and safety go hand in hand, and this important piece of equipment plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming experience for all passengers who ride with us in Gettysburg.

At Patriot Rail, we remain committed to continual training, operational excellence, and putting safety first every day, and Gettysburg Railway continues to serve as a great example of that commitment in action.

We’re proud to share that our team at Garden City Western Railway has selected the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center as the recipient of its 2026 community donation initiative.

Chosen through a collaborative team effort, the organization plays an important role in supporting children and families across Western Kansas.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this weekend’s Ironman in Jacksonville — what an incredible event for our city! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃

We’re especially proud to recognize two members of the Patriot Rail team who took on the challenge: Mike Abernathy, AVP, IT Operations and Systems, and Harrison Roughton, VP, Safety, Regulatory & Sustainability.

Completing an Ironman takes grit, discipline, and determination, and we’re proud to see those same qualities reflected in their leadership every day at Patriot Rail.

From the energy across downtown Jacksonville to the thousands of athletes, volunteers, and supporters who came together, it was an unforgettable weekend celebrating endurance, community, and achievement.
