The Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, has released the 2025 State Airport System Plan, which includes detailed data for all of Ohio's publicly owned, public-use airports.

Jackson County's James A. Rhodes Airport has an economic impact of $2.48 million. This is derived from a detailed survey conducted by ODOT, the FAA, and AECOM, a 3rd party consulting and planning firm that specializes in transportation forecasting and planning. The $2.48 million represents yearly economic activity related to on- and off-airport investments that are directly connected to the operation of the James A. Rhodes Airport.

As part of the study, a valuation of the airport is set at $35.5 million, making it one of the largest assets to Jackson County.

43 minutes from Charlotte to Jackson! That’s right, small general aviation airports like Jackson County - James A Rhodes keep small communities connected. Businesses connected to Jackson County utilize the airport not for the “rich and famous” but for investment into the area. When time is money, small airports make it more efficient and welcoming for those businesses to operate in rural areas.

This Learjet is scheduled for arrival before 9am!

A commercial airline flight from Charlotte to Columbus (closest major airport) would take the average traveler at least 6 hours one way when you factor in the TSA security lines, parking away from the terminal, shuttle bus rides, and drive time to Jackson from Columbus. And don’t forget the likelihood of an airline delay. Even a road trip to/from Charlotte is at least 6 or 7 hours one way, without stops.
