Have been thinking about SSPS lately, and really missing my families. I just read this from the Dalai Lama... and it struck me that this is exactly the foundation upon which SSPS strove to educate our children. Build character, foster kindness, develop a sense of self grounded in integrity. Once you have done that - then your kids can and will learn anything.

Worry to much about your kid getting to Kg knowing how to read - but neglecting teaching them how to manage their emotions, build genuine relationships - that is when your child is unprepared for life - not just school. I just heard a parent the other day lamenting that their preschooler wasnt going to be prepared for Kg - and the preschool needed to be more rigorous. When will the greater community of parents & early child educators learn what really matters in early childhood....
