Amador Fire and Sutter Creek FPD are currently at Westover Field on Airport Road in Sutter Creek filling sandbags for anyone in need to help protect homes and property during the storm.

We had a great weekend with the West Coast Swift Wing. 30+ Swift aircraft flew in from as far as Tennessee and Texas. GREAT WEEKEND!

Amador County Airport / Westover Field is being used by Cal-Fire and the USFS as a Heli-Base for the Electra Fire. Monday evening there were three (3) medium helicopters. By Tuesday noon the number jumped to ten (10). This morning (Wednesday) we have fourteen (14) helicopters on the runway and taxiway.

Over night four (4) large helicopters with the U.S. Forest Service, LA County, Orange County, Ventura County and SoCal Edison arrived at the Airport.

These helicopters will support fire fight efforts on the CALDOR Fire. The crews and helicopters are specially equipped and trained to fight fires 24 hours a day.

PG&E has started to send helicopters to inspect the powerlines. Currently there is one helicopter in the Pine Grove Area. Additional helicopters will be sent to inspect the lines as areas are given the ALL CLEAR notice.

PG&E's Air Force back at it today. There will be seven (7) helicopters flying in the upcountry area of Amador and Calaveras Counties.

The PG&E Air Force will be flying over Amador, Calaveras and El Dorado Counties today looking for trouble spots on the power lines. This inspection will allow the power to be restored quickly. six helicopters will be flying out of Westover Field/Amador County Airport all day today, September 9, 2020.
