Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Updated in the Automated Export System (AES) From the U. S. Census Bureau: Effective immediately, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and HTS Codes That Are Not Valid for AES tables have been updated to accept the changes to the July 1, 2018 codes. AES will accept shipments with outdated codes during a grace period for 30 days beyond the expiration date of June 30th, 2018. [ 80 more words ]

U.S. Dept. of State: $30 Million Settlement of Alleged Export Violations The Department of State concluded an administrative settlement with FLIR Systems, Inc. of Wilsonville, Oregon, to resolve alleged violations of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), 22 U.S.C. § 2751 et seq., and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 22 CFR Parts 120-130. BIS: ZTE Export Bans Due to Violations The U.S. announced April 16 a ban on exports to China’s second-largest telecommunications firm . This was the latest penalty against that company for violating U.S. export controls. For companies that have conducted business with ZTE, they should consider implementing a comprehensive compliance response plan. Among other things, this plan should identify and prohibit any potential export activity with ZTE, including shipments (either direct or through third parties), release of technical data or software, and access to support sites, and address how to effectively communicate within and outside the company on ZTE business and related questions.
