Northern Michigan’s Inland Waterway

The Inland Waterway is Michigan’s longest chain of rivers and lakes. The town of Indian River is located right at the heart of it! One of Michigan’s great natural gifts, the Waterway offers scenic beauty, along with great boating, water skiing, swimming, and sport fishing. Almost 40 miles long, it runs through Pickerel Lake, Crooked Lake, the Crooked River, Burt Lake, the Indian River, Mullett Lake, the Cheboygan River, and finally into Lake Huron.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we wanted to update everyone on the water conditions on the Indian River. While restrictions on most rivers and lakes were lifted on May 15th, we still recommend extreme caution on the waterway. The Crooked River remains closed. Many launch ramps throughout the area remain closed due to high water and debris.

Indian River Marina’s launch ramp is open May 23rd for IRM slip & storage customers only. Please note that Indian River Marina, including the launch ramp, will be closed May 24th and 25th.

Our Showroom and Service Department remain fully operational during typical business hours and we hope to open fully in the coming weeks.

Yesterday we were able to launch the first three boats of the season. While the river remains CLOSED until May 15th, our team is working hard to get boats in the harbor as soon as water conditions allow.

As a team, we’d like to thank the entire Northern Michigan community for the immense amount of support you’ve shown over these past few weeks. We truly feel the love and we can’t wait to share another season together.

We’ve been working extra hard behind the scenes to ensure that all boats remain secure and we are actively monitoring conditions. Additionally, our showroom and service department have been able to maintain operations.

As we get closer to the summer season, our top priority is to ensure a fun, safe experience for all guests. We’re feeling very optimistic about 2026 and we’re looking forward to being back on the water soon.
