A few updates about the airport if you haven't seen our updates earlier on other pages!
The rotating beacon is currently INOP but port management assures that it is being repaired ASAP, Starlink internet is being installed for port use to enable activation of several security cameras and increase the safety of overnight parking on the airport property.
WSDOT has come out to evaluate the pavement surface and funding is being located for a potential re-striping of the runway as well as addressing any issues WSDOT requests we address. Hopefully the cameras and striping will be completed before the end of FY2025.
Drainage ditches have been cleared out and brush has been trimmed back to hopefully negate some of the larger flooding that occurs over fall/winter on the airport.
Winds are picking up and we are expecting some local flooding in the area! The unmarked grass taxiway/runway is definitely too soft for landing on and the tie-down area is getting a little soggy as well. Feel free to reach out and ask for a PIREP ahead of your planned adventure. This way we can advise on conditions and the potential forecast.
Please be advised that Facebook has made some changes to the way the appointment scheduling system works. For the time being that means the courtesy vehicle is available for local travel on the peninsula only and on a first come first serve basis. As a safety note the vehicle is currently missing 4 seat-belts in the rear which are being sourced as funding becomes available, and is running on a spare tire until funding becomes available for purchase of new tires.
Reservations can be made and availability of the courtesy vehicle checked either via direct message on this page, or through Madison Johnston of RemoteAMT Mobile Aircraft Maintenance, by Text/Call, Email, or direct message on Facebook.
When a reservation is made there will be an effort to move the courtesy vehicle to the gravel parking area by the Pilot Shack. If for some reason we are unable to relocate the vehicle prior to your arrival please see the aerial map with directions to the storage where the vehicle is kept.
