Despite the rain, we’ve had a lot of activity at the airport this morning. A Bombardier Global and Texas Parks and Wildlife Aviation units Poacher 1 and Poacher 2 stopped in between their missions following the storm through the area.

Welcoming Helicopter Express’ 9AC to the airport in support of regional fire suppression efforts. The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane is an American twin-engine heavy-lift helicopter. It is the civilian version of the United States Army's Sikorsky. Coordinated by the US Forest Service this Heavy Lift Helo will deploy to make precision water drops assisting ground personnel in the protection of persons and property.

Yesterday was a huge milestone for the airport! The ribbon cutting for the newly refurbished FBO was very well attended by local, state, and federal elected officials and dignitaries. The next step has been taken to make Huntsville Airport a destination for some and a pit stop for others. We now have two new fuels trucks, two courtesy vehicles that will channel your inner desire to be a police officer for a brief period of time, a newly updated FBO with new furniture and updated pilots lounge. Free WiFi and 24 hour access to restrooms and trip planning computers are available also. We are all excited for the runway to open and the rain yesterday helped water in the new sod along the edge of the runway. We especially want to thank the new City of Huntsville Airport Staff, Airport Manager, City of Huntsville Staff, City Council, and the Mayor for working together to make this a great event and welcoming everyone out. There was a lot of behind the scenes planning throughout the city to get this done and a lot of departments involved. It was a great event!
