MOVING THIS WINTER?
A FEW TIPS...
Moving during winter can be a little bit more difficult because of weather but it can be done! Here are a few tips:
1. Snow and Ice can change your moving plans at any moment.
One thing that can certainly create havoc and close many highways in a matter of hours, is a winter storm... Because mother nature can be certainly unpredictable during winter months, we recommend that you plan accordingly, and like many customers do, plan your move 1 or 2 days forward just in case... You can always have more time inside an empty home and the moving truck already on its way to your final destination, but you can't overstay a property lease or delay new owners from moving in.
2. Pack with more care.
Another effect of freezing temperatures is that makes certain materials more fragile. It never hurts to put some extra padding between china pieces, wine glasses and other fragile items.
3. Prepare your pickup location for movers.
If there are any possibilities of snow accumulation, make sure to clear your garage door, main door areas and pathways so they can move easier from the moment they arrive. Also cover the floors with towels or other water absorbing materials so the cold muddy sludge does not go far.
4. Make sure your furry friends are OK.
Pets are family. Take care of them and don't let them be affected by the freezing temperatures.
5. Protect everybody at home.
Since movers will be coming in and out, cold air will definitely fill your home for the time they will be there loading the truck. Make sure everybody is warm.
6. Pack and take your essentials and important documents with you!!!
This one is a no brainer and since we can all agree that some things are irreplaceable, take them with you. Heirlooms, jewelry, important documents, passports, etc...
Best of lucks at your new dest
