Let's pause to think about the boring parts of travel planning. Trip insurance. Something you hope you never need, but always end up contemplating.

Have you ever needed to make a claim with your travel insurance?

On my way back from Europe this summer there were crazy storms on the east coast that resulted in us landing in a different state than originally scheduled. I got home eventually and then submitted receipts to the insurance company. I had extra information, such as screenshots of the weather and flight boards with all the disrupted flights. I didnt even need the extra "proof". I had a refund about 1 week after submitting my claim.

When the delay happened, I sure was glad for the peace of mind while I rapidly booked a hotel for the night and rental car to the next flight.

There are some questions Google just isn’t very good at answering. 🤷‍♀️

It can tell you which excursions are included, where the ship stops, the dates, the ship, the itinerary, and alllll the details.

But it can’t quite answer, “Are we going to spend this whole trip watching the clock?”⏰🏃‍♀️

Patrice - Magic On Main Travel already had a pretty good idea what her answer would be.

She’s traveled with Adventures by Disney before, and one of the things she already knew about ABD is how well they can fill a trip with the places, culture, and experiences you came all that way for without making you feel like you’re constantly racing through them.

Her Danube sailing confirmed that same experience on the river. There were excursions most days, and Patrice still didn’t feel rushed back to the boat.

Were they tired? Yep. But staying up late meeting new friends and then getting up early again had a little something to do with that.

And THAT is why we want to actually go on the trips we recommend.

We can read the itinerary before we leave, but what we bring home is the firsthand experience that helps us answer the questions an itinerary can’t. When you ask us, “Okay, but what is this actually going to feel like for us?” we want more than a webpage to pull from.

I wanted to make this a more permanent post because it was a long time in the making. Twenty three years ago I tried going to Neuschwanstein Castle. I made it to the base of the mountain, but missed the last tour of the day. Today was the day it worked out!
