My tournament partners: Scott Hale, Jason Hankes, Billy Mitchell, Kelly Bement and I have finished in first place eight times in St. Croix River walleye tournaments! Including five wins at the St. Croix’s largest fishing tournament, the Beanie’s River Rat. I am also sponsored by Rapala, Warners Dock, Everts Resort, and Limit Creek Rods. We just started wrapping up a very fun day on the water where we caught a lot of saugers on jigs and minnows - Dexter the young man, had the high fish count... When Matt had a "hit", then his pole bent in half, reel going in reverse with no pause. I see "oh there goes the braid, and now we are on the backing," I got to the console and started the big motor to chase this fish down as the reel was about to get spooled. Matt (in Camo) went up to the front of the boat and played it very well. Then after a while we got a look at it, tail hooked an enormous paddlefish. With more fighting and boat chasing Matt ended up getting it landed all on an 8lb test leader. Mike on the left, said with a grunt, "It's heavier than 50-pounds of blasting sand!"

Pic from last Monday glorious weather 50 degrees, weird slow bite saw very few fish landed. I pulled the plug after keeper #8, nothing huge 14-15" saugers and 17" walleye. Very light bite - like a crawler bite. Saw Chris Haroldson from Hudson Wrestling Club enjoying the day!
