Sailmakers Rule of Thumb: If you can stick your thumb through it, it should probably get a sewn patch. Thumbs are smaller than most people think!
If you can stick your sailmaker through it, it defiantly needs a sewn patch.
They can be fixed!

Amazing performance from our customers at the Lakewood Yacht Club's Shoe Regatta this weekend! Rough seas and heavy air made for lots of excitement but everyone pulled through and dominated the winners circle.

Look up when walking the docks! Sometimes it can be fixed by a quick re-furl but if left like this, the sun will do what the sun does. Don't be caught by dock rot and save your trip to your favorite sailmakers for something epic.
