Attention filmmakers of the Filipino/a/x diaspora! We are honored to announce that the Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies at the University of California-Davis has graciously accepted our proposal to host the 9th edition of Lakbay ng Pagkaalam, Philippines Short Film Festival as part of their annual Research Conference on May 28-29, 2021. We are now accepting submissions of short films for possible inclusion in this tremendously important event. This year's conference theme is “Healing, Care, and Resistance,” shining light on how our Filipino/a/x community organizes, heals, builds community in the United States, in the homeland, and throughout the diaspora.
If you would like to submit a work of no more than 15 minutes duration for screening at the Lakbay ng Pagkaalam Philippine Short Film Festival, please send a private message here, or contact Kokoy Severino at [email protected].
Lakbay ng Pagkaalam ("Journey of Consciousness") is a series of film screenings featuring work by established and emerging filmmakers that are compelling, powerful, and socially relevant. The series collectively explores a vision of the world through the lens of filmmakers from the Philippine diaspora.
The Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies Initiative at UC Davis aims to support research, education and advocacy for Filipinos in the United States, the Philippines, and abroad.
