🌧️ **Tropical Weather is Headed for the Gulf Coast – Safety Comes First** 🚛

As a tropical system approaches the Gulf of America and the Texas coast, we want to remind all of our professional drivers, employees, and their families that **no load is worth risking your life.**

If you're traveling through areas affected by heavy rain, flooding, or strong winds:

⚠️ **Turn Around, Don't Drown.** Never attempt to drive through water covering the roadway. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle off the road, and the road beneath the water may no longer be there.

🚛 Slow down, increase your following distance, and expect reduced visibility and hydroplaning conditions.

🛑 If conditions become unsafe, find a safe place to park and wait it out. A delayed delivery is always better than an accident.

🏠 Whether you're at home or on the road, take a few minutes now to prepare:
• Keep your fuel tank topped off.
• Charge your phone and backup battery packs.
• Have drinking water, non-perishable food, flashlights, and medications readily available.
• Keep an emergency kit in your truck with rain gear, extra clothing, batteries, and basic first-aid supplies.
• Stay informed by monitoring weather alerts and road conditions.

America's 250th Celebration is Almost Here – Let's Get Everyone Home Safely. 🇺🇸

As we celebrate 250 years of freedom and the incredible nation we call home, America's highways will be busier than usual. Families will be traveling, celebrations will be underway, and unfortunately, there will also be more distracted drivers and impaired drivers on the road.

As professional drivers, we know we can't control what others do—but we can control how we respond.

Give that extra following distance. Leave yourself an escape route. Slow down when traffic gets unpredictable. Give others the room they may not give you.

Remember, your training, your experience, and your professionalism may not only save your own life—it could save someone else's as well.

🛑 BRAKE SAFETY WEEK IS COMING 🛑

August 23–29, 2026

Attention Professional Drivers:

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will conduct Brake Safety Week from August 23–29, with inspectors across North America focusing on the condition and performance of brake systems on commercial motor vehicles.

During this enforcement campaign, inspectors will conduct brake-focused inspections designed to identify out-of-adjustment brakes, air leaks, worn components, and other brake-related defects that could place drivers and the motoring public at risk.

At Crane Freight, safety starts before the wheels turn. Brake issues are among the most common out-of-service violations, which is why thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections are critical every day—not just during enforcement events.

Before you hit the road:

✅ Check brake adjustment and operation
✅ Listen for air leaks during your inspection
✅ Verify air pressure builds and holds properly
✅ Inspect brake hoses and connections for damage
✅ Watch for worn drums, rotors, and brake components
✅ Report defects immediately and get them repaired

Remember, CVSA has also announced plans for an unannounced Brake Safety Day sometime during 2026, meaning inspections could increase with little notice.

While Brake Safety Week focuses on brake systems, inspectors may also review:

🔹 Hours of Service compliance
🔹 Cargo securement
🔹 Driver credentials and medical certificates
🔹 Lighting and vehicle condition

Professional drivers know that safe equipment and safe driving go hand in hand. A few extra minutes spent on a quality inspection can prevent violations, costly downtime, and most importantly, accidents.

Let's keep our equipment in top condition, maintain our commitment to safety, and continue representing Crane Freight with professionalism on every mile.

When you pull into a shop for any maintenance or to get a tire repair, ask them to check the brake shoes, slackers, hoses everything. Most shops will do it.
