Today we celebrate all Veterans in the United States to honor and show respect towards those who served in its armed forces both in wartime and in peace. The day is “largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty.” Today, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Mushrooms are known as a great source of Vitamin D, but did you also know that mushrooms are one of the top breast health foods because higher mushroom intake may be associated with lower breast cancer risk.

Mushrooms –especially white button mushrooms– can decrease the activity of an enzyme called aromatase (tumor cells use this to synthesize estrogen) by up to 60%! So in a sense, eating mushrooms helps starve out breast cancer.⁠

They’re also rich in a special fiber called beta-glucans which have been shown to have potential immune-enhancing and prebiotic properties.
