We're experiencing phone issues at the marina preventing incoming calls from getting through. We're open, just can't answer the phone. If you're a storage customer who wants your boat splashed please drive to the marina instead of trying to call first. We'll get you in as soon as we can.

Reminder, we're closed this Sunday to celebrate Easter.

If anyone was planning on masochistic boating activities on Sunday the marina will be closed. Call before 4:00 on Saturday to have your boat splashed.
Why? You might ask. Forecast is calling for temps in the teens, high winds and precipitation (I'm a Floridian but I think that means white rain). I KNOW it means way too cold and nasty to be on the water, unless you're auditioning for Deadliest Catch. I don't think my staff owns any arctic clothing so we're not equipped to work in those conditions.

Enjoy the frigid temps indoors .

We're going back to Winter Hours at the marina which means we'll be closed on Mondays. If you'd like to use your boat on Monday, please call Sunday afternoon before 3:00 and we'll put it in the water at the end of the day and pull it out Tuesday.
Call me directly if this poses a problem for you.

A reminder that the Homosassa Christmas Boat Parade is in 8 days: Saturday 13 December at DARK. Boats to muster in the Homosassa River near where it meets Prices Creek (at the end of RiverHaven).

Throw some lights, libations and friends on your boat, fall in behind the Santa Sleigh and follow me as we drive by all the restaurants and marinas spreading Goodwill and Cheer to our neighbors enjoying the show from the bars and their homes along the river.

Manatees are starting to arrive at the Springs in decent numbers, with this cool weather this weekend should be a great time to swim with them in the mornings.

I haven't seen anyone express interest in taking over the Christmas Boat Parade so we will take the helm for another year. Saturday, December 13 seems like a great day (technically night) for a parade! So here's the official notice:

The 2025 Homosassa Christmas Boat Parade will be Saturday 13 December starting at DARK - which is the best time for people to see tiny lights sparkling on boats. We will loosely form up at the junction of the Homosassa River and Prices Creek (about the end of the RiverHaven houses). Start forming up around Dusk - dusk is the time between daytime and night time when it is still light enough to see where you're going but too light to see Christmas lights.

The Santa Sleigh will lead off the parade, everyone else can fall in behind us and follow Santa's lead. We'll drive by all the waterfront restaurants and marinas including
RiverHaven
MacRaes
Crumps
Monkey Bar
Homosassa Springs Marina
Seagrass
Margarita Grill

If Santa sees or hears large house parties he'll swing the fleet by them so everyone can get a nice look see.

As with the last 8 years or so this is a fun parade (as opposed to a cut throat competition). You can't have too many or too few lights on your boat. Whatever makes you happy is the perfect decoration. Spend an hour, a day or a week getting the boat ready, invite your friends and have fun showing off your decorating skills and partying on the water.

If you're a spectator, refer back a couple paragraphs to decide where you want to position yourself.

The electric company is changing out our meters at the marina today so will be cutting power to the facility. This also means no phones. We're open but if you need your boat put in please just show up and ask instead of trying to call phones we can't answer. Capt Mark

A reminder that the marina will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24 and 25). Since were closed on Mondays the way it fell out this year we'll be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If you would like your boat put in the water to use over these 3 days, please call us today. Merry Christmas. Well open again Thursday morning. Next week we'll be closed New Year's Day.

Reminder, Homosassa Boat Parade is TONIGHT - starts at dark. Muster in the main river in vicinity of Prices Creek. Santa Sleigh leads off, everyone else fall in in a somewhat orderly flotilla traveling in a loosely dispersed column. Put on a good show for the spectators and have fun. Capt Mark

A reminder that the Homosassa Boat Parade is Saturday December 14, 2024 at Dark.

As with the past few years this is a FUN parade - not a contest though I'm sure everyone watching will judge the boats and there will be fan favorites which you'll identify by the clapping and cheering.

Boats should start mustering in the main river by Prices Creek around dusk (dusk is when the things you could see clearly in broad daylight are starting to get fuzzy).

I'll be driving the Santa Sleigh as the lead off boat, everyone else will safely fall in behind me in whatever order you wish to follow me down the route. We'll start around Dark (Dark is when you can't see those things that were fuzzy at dusk).

We hit each housing area, marina and restaurant on the river starting up by Prices Creek. Assuming the other boats mimic my actions we'll pirouette in front of:
RiverHaven Marina
The Park
Macrae’s
Monkey Bar
Homosassa Springs Marina
Seagrass
Margarita Grill

Each of those places would be a great spot to watch the parade and I'm sure the bars and restaurants would love for you to bring a large group of hungry and thirsty people who wine and dine all night long. Waterfront house parties along the main river would also be a good viewing area.

Wear your sexy merman costume this week for Halloween but leave it at home for the boat parade, this is a family friendly event.

Make sure your lights are safe and you're not putting too high of an amperage load on your inverter or generator. Burning boats always draw a crowd but you probably don't want that kind of attention.

In years past we've had boats sized from kayaks to 37 footers. I'll stay in the main channel but it gets shallow in front of Seagrass and Margarita Grill. Know your draft and what the tides will be and decide for yourself if it's safe to hit each of those stops.

No need to register - since there is no registration. Just show up and have a great time.
