Customer requests troubleshooting of Gulfstream GIV hopper tanks. Upon opening the fuel access panels, maintenance manual instructions for the GIV fall out. It is essential that aircraft is inspected for FOD before closing up a fuel tank. FOD can lead to damaged fuel tank components, clogged filters and other expensive repairs. While this is an ironic discovery, this is not the most unusual piece of FOD (foreign object debris) we have come across inside of an aircraft fuel tank. SEAL Aviation techs have found tooling, rags, parts, even a baseball.

Overhauling a Piper PA-28 fuel tank. This Piper tank had leaking fasteners and required an overhaul. The SEAL Aviation Structural Team was able to repair the fasteners which allowed our Fuel Leak Repair Team to immediately reseal the tank. Reskinning the lower wing on a Metro SA227-AC. The corrosion damage on the wing was so severe that the existing lower wing skin had to be replaced but a new skin was not available for purchase. SEAL Aviation Combined Services coordinated to fabricate the new wing skin while repairing corrosion and fuel leaks at the same time to meet a tight timeline for our customer. Removing and replacing a Lear 45 center wing skin splice due to corrosion. While performing Airworthiness Directive 2021-23-08 and Service Bulletin 45-57-13-1 Center Wing Inspection for Lear 45, SEAL Aviation identified corrosion on the center wing splice plate. The SEAL Aviation Structural Repair Team performed this repair in coordination with Bombardier engineering on a tight timeline to meet the needs of our customer.
