A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Calderon and everyone at Martinsburg Elementary School for the thoughtful surprise this morning. Recognizing our drivers on National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day with donuts was a kind gesture that truly meant a lot.
Our drivers work hard every day to safely transport students, and moments like this remind them that their dedication is seen and appreciated. We are grateful for the continued support and strong partnership with MES.
Thank you for starting the day with kindness — and a sweet treat. 🚌🍩💛

Today, we celebrate the people who do far more than just drive a bus.
Our school bus drivers are the first smile many students see in the morning and the last friendly face they see before heading home. They handle early mornings, changing weather, traffic, schedules, and the responsibility of carrying what matters most — our children.
They are patient, dependable, caring, and often unnoticed heroes of the school day. They learn names, notice when a child is having a rough morning, offer kindness, and help create a safe start and finish to each day.
From all of us at Maxwell Transit Systems, Inc., thank you to every driver who shows up day after day with dedication and heart. We appreciate you more than words can say.
Happy National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🚌💛

The Bus Driver

Most people don’t remember their bus driver.

They remember their favorite teacher.
Their best friend in school.
The big football games.
Graduation day.

But the bus driver?
Usually just the person behind the wheel.

Every morning before the sun is fully up, a yellow bus starts its route. The roads are quiet, houses still half asleep, porch lights glowing.

Kids climb on one by one.

Some laughing.
Some tired.
Some carrying backpacks bigger than they are.

And some carrying things no backpack could ever hold.

The bus driver notices more than people think.

They notice the kid who suddenly stopped sitting with friends.
They notice the one who stopped talking as much.
They notice the kid who always says “good morning”… until one day they don’t.

Sometimes the bus driver is the first adult a child sees that day.

Sometimes they’re the only one who says their name.

Years go by.
Those kids grow up.

They become teachers, mechanics, nurses, soldiers, parents… leaders in their communities.

Most of them will forget thousands of small moments from their childhood.

But every once in a while, they remember something simple.

A driver who waited when they were running late.
A driver who said, “Take your time.”
A driver who made them feel safe on a day when nothing else did.

At the time, it probably didn’t seem like much.

Just a bus ride.

But sometimes the smallest moments in a child’s life are the ones that quietly remind them:

Someone noticed.
Someone cared.
Someone made sure they got home.

Tomorrow morning, when you see that yellow bus stop at the end of a road, remember something.

Inside that bus are the future doctors, builders, teachers, and parents of our communities.

And the person driving it?

They might be changing lives… without ever realizing it.

Yesterday’s snowstorm came out of nowhere and turned an already busy afternoon into a long, challenging one.

We want to take a moment to thank all of our school bus and school van drivers for their patience, professionalism, and commitment to safety. Despite delays and difficult road conditions, you made sure every student got home safely — and that’s what matters most.

A big thank you as well to school administration and staff who stayed late, helped with coordination, answered calls, and worked behind the scenes to make sure every student was accounted for and where they needed to be.

Days like yesterday remind us that transporting students is truly a team effort. We appreciate every one of you for stepping up when it mattered most.

Thank you all again.

❄️ Winter Weather & Bus Stop Safety Reminder ❄️

As the temperatures start dropping, we want to make sure all our students stay safe and warm while waiting for the bus. Please remind your kids to bundle up—coats, hats, gloves, the whole works. Mornings are getting colder, and the wind at a bus stop always seems extra chilly.

🧤🧥 Lost & Found Overflow Alert
Our lost and found is officially overflowing. We have enough jackets, hoodies, and lunch boxes to outfit a small village. If your child is missing something, there’s a very good chance it’s riding around on one of our buses.

👉 Please check with your driver or call the office.
Anything still unclaimed by the end of Christmas break will be donated so these items can go to someone who needs them.

Thanks for helping keep our students safe, warm, and prepared for winter. We appreciate you!

All of this was found between Friday and today — this is why we’re asking for everyone’s help.

Over the past couple of days, our drivers have noticed quite a bit of trash left behind on the buses—bottles, wrappers, papers—and even a few torn seats. We understand kids get busy talking and joking around, but we really need everyone’s help with this.
Please take a minute to remind your riders to pick up after themselves and respect the bus seats and equipment. These buses are shared by many students each day, and when things get damaged, it’s not just an inconvenience—it’s expensive to repair or replace.

Our drivers take pride in their buses and work hard to make sure they’re clean, safe, and ready to go every morning. A little extra care from our riders helps us keep those buses in good condition and avoid unnecessary repair costs that impact everyone.

Let’s work together to keep Maxwell buses clean, comfortable, and in great shape for all students. We truly appreciate the help and support from our parents and riders! 💛🚌
