MAX Transit

MAX Transit Macatawa Area Express (MAX) is the public transit system for the greater Holland/Zeeland area. Its bus garage is located at 11660 Greenway Dr in Holland.

Macatawa Area Express (MAX) has been serving the greater Holland-Zeeland area of West Michigan with fixed route bus service since 2000. Our mission is to create a sustainable transportation system to be used by all residents of the Macatawa Area with linkages to other transit systems. MAX is governed by an independent Transportation Authority board comprised of representatives from the City of Hol

land and Holland Charter Township. Oversight of the transit system was transferred from the City of Holland to the Authority on July 1, 2007. The Authority contracts with the City of Holland for essential administrative support. MAX is funded by federal and state grants, a transit millage for the City of Holland and Holland Charter Township, and passenger fares. The City of Zeeland also contracts with MAX transit for demand response service for its residents. The MAX administrative office is located at the Padnos Transportation Center located at 171 Lincoln Ave. Each year, MAX Transit safely transports more than 400,000 passengers to their destinations in the local area and ridership continues to grow. Physical passes for Reserve-A-MAX have been discontinued!

Don’t worry, fare discounts will still be available though!

Passenger can still pay with Cash or can use electronic fare options loaded to rider accounts. To add fare credits to your account, call the Customer Service Team at 616-355-1010 or easily load them through the Macatawa Area Express app.

Riding has never been easier or more convenient!

Any remaining passes will be honored till September 30th 2026. If you can't use them up by that time, please bring them to the MAX office for our team to load them onto your account.

While we have moved mostly to electronic fares, we will still have limited physical Fixed Route passes available for sale for qualified individuals. 🎫🚎

Remaining physically will be our Individual Fare Tickets, monthly passes, and Student Semester passes. Any physical passes will be stamped with an expiration date. No refunds or reissuance of unused passed will be offered.

Individual Fare Tickets, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Student passes are available through the Token Transit app! 📲🚎

Passes purchased before June 8, 2026 must be:
• Used
• Loaded to Token Transit or the Macatawa Area Express app
• Or, Redeemed at the MAX office by Sept. 30, 2026.

After September 30th, 2026, any previous passes remaining without expiration will no longer be accepted. Don’t miss out, make the switch today!
