NOT MY TRUCK OR TRAILER! One of the most important things to remember is to vent your trailer before unloading. This happened at one of the customers I deliver to often, but there's no blame for the driver - at this place, the receiver does not allow us on top of the trailer to vent - they do it for us. This is one of the silliest places I've delivered. I had to pull out into a busy intersection during rush hour, back up back through the same intersection and finally leave my truck mostly out in the same intersection with just a small barricade to shoo away cars. All's well that ends well- at least no one hit my truck!

Truck in the shop? Oh no! That's okay, it's just time for its first PM (preventive maintenance). Great timing, really. Just before winter is a perfect time to make sure everything's running right, get fluids & filters changed & everything greased!

A great day! I started by blindside backing (a difficult back where you back towards the passenger side - called blindside because you can't see where you're going without getting out and looking) into this tight spot to unload in the dark. From there, I made a very tight deadline for my second on time delivery of the day, earning a note of thanks from my fleet manager. Tonight, I'm home to see my daughters first high school choir concert & have dinner with my PSD (Prime Student Driver, or the equivalent of my CDL instructor) who is through town to pick up a load. Sometimes it all comes together...

Another day, another ... got lucky again. Maybe I should buy Powerball tickets. Hit a deer last night & only damaged my license plate! Clean bill of health from the shop this morning.

I got really lucky today. This is a bad pic of my reminder to slow down. Halfway up the ladder on my tanker trailer, my foot slipped completely off & I fell to the ground. Fortunately, I landed on my feet, and only bruised my elbow & skinned my knee. It had been raining, so the rungs were wet & I have older worn boot soles. Still, I can't make excuses. Time to SLOW DOWN and make sure of my 3 points of contact. Next time could be my last.
