New research by the Parliamentary Advisory Committee on Transport Safety has found that rail freight is 78 times safer than road freight when it comes to rail-adjusted Fatal and Weighted Injury Rates.
And they found that a single freight train can remove between 75 and 129 HGV movements from our roads – reducing congestion and cutting carbon emissions.
Rail freight is the cleaner, greener, safer alternative. But the sector needs support to grow.
