Behind the scenes at

The biggest struggle over here the last few months has been finding time to write the content I really want to share!

This weekend I checked into to get some focused time to work on it! For just 5k Chase Ultimate Rewards transferred to Hyatt, I was able to get the physical space I needed from my to do list to focus on this project.

Of course, when I got into it, I found that writing takes longer than I think it does and did not meet my goals at all 🤦‍♀️

Last week, my husband had a work trip in San Francisco. We realized this was a great opportunity for my son and I to come with and add some vacation days on as well! 🌁

Here’s how much we spent for 8 nights in SF:

✈️ $200 to make up the difference between the flight the company would cover and the more expensive one we wanted on a Friday afternoon

💺$135 for my companion ticket + taxes and fees

💳 $75 for the credit card that made it possible

🏨 $400 for 2 years of Premier credit card membership each that earned us 4 free nights we used at

🍜 23,000 points spent on one night at

Here’s what I gained on the trip:

🏨 11,588 points from a promotion + earning on the nights paid for by work

🍳Free breakfast for two for 3 days due to globalist status

☕️Free breakfast for two at an airport restaurant thanks to from the Venture X card

While $810 is by no means a free trip, it is at least 1/3 of what this trip would’ve normally cost. This made a cross country trip possible for my family and we had so much fun!

This month the Internet blew up with stories of travel gone wrong, like a viral Facebook post talking about the dismal state of travel this summer, or the news of Delta offering passengers $10,000 to disembark an oversold flight.

We took a last minute trip to Minneapolis last weekend!

Stayed one night at the - I was very impressed by the customer service. Globalist upgrade got us a room with a separate living and sleeping space - so helpful with one person working in the hotel and a baby that needed to nap.

We booked this with a free night certificate earned with the World of Hyatt credit card.

Flights were booked on using a combo of Southwest points we had earned on previous flights + points transferred from Chase. Baby flew as a lap infant.

This was a good first attempt at flying as a family of three! Super happy with our Minu stroller and P**a car seat for travel.

With all the travel horror stories being shared right now we were pleased to only have a 30 minute delay, but were a bit bummed to find no lounge available in terminal 2 at . Take two on family travel will be next month for a flight double the length so we will see how that one goes!
