Another month at HYS, another record! ✈️

As we wrap up May, the final numbers from April are in, and it was an incredible month of serving our community.

Here are a few highlights from our April 2026 market analysis:

Record-Breaking Traffic: This made it the airport's busiest April ever in terms of roundtrip enplanements. We saw a modest gain of +10 passengers from the same month previous year.

Comfortable Flights: The percentage of seats filled was 53%.

Unbeatable Value: We're keeping travel affordable! In our top passenger markets, 36 of those 42 fares were lower from HYS. This means our fares beat out Wichita (ICT) and Kansas City (MCI) in roughly 80% of comparisons —even when considering fares offered by budget carriers like Frontier and Allegiant!

Top-Tier Reliability: SkyWest at HYS reported zero flight cancellations for April.

On-Time Arrivals: 88% of all April arrivals at HYS were on-time or within 14 minutes of scheduled arrival.

✈️ Big news for our HYS flyers!

We are gearing up for a major reconstruction of our crosswind runway to ensure we meet the latest FAA regulations and are fully prepared for the future of aviation.

To get this important work done safely, commercial flights will be paused from August 3 through August 23.

If you have a late-summer trip booked with us during those dates, please reach out to your airline to make adjustments.

We know this is an inconvenience, but this upgrade is vital to keeping HYS the safe, reliable, and convenient airport you love.

We did it, Hays! ✈️🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that 2025 was the busiest year in the history of Hays Regional Airport!

Thanks to you, we shattered our previous records with 17,345 passengers flying out of Hays last year. That is a massive 19.5% increase over 2024.

From a huge surge in January to our busiest single month ever in December, you showed up and proved that Western Kansas values local air service.
