It happens, and it did again today. Those safety distances in the turbine manuals should NOT be ignored. Yet the Ohio Power Siting Board still allows setbacks of 1/3 of recommended distances. Ohio citizens deserve better. The Emerson Creek Wind project in the Ohio counties of Erie and Huron should not be allowed to begin construction until the plans are modified to ensure the 500 meter (1640 feet) setback from neighboring property for fire safety and 1000 meter (3280 feet) safety distance during thunderstorms. It is time for the State of Ohio to put the safety of its citizens above the profits of outside corporations.

After their project certificate was denied by the Ohio Power Siting Board, due to overwhelming opposition by local residents and County and Township governments, APEX is removing their met towers from the area. Perhaps they are hoping to find someplace more friendly to industrial wind projects where the towers can be put to use. We say good luck with that as opposition to such projects is growing rapidly all across the Country, and with good reason. Once again, thanks to all who worked so hard to protect our County!
