‼️ Lake Levels & Drought Update for the Tennessee Valley ‼️

Even with some recent rain, much of our area is still dealing with severe to extreme drought conditions—and it’s showing in our waterways.
Right now, runoff (the water that actually makes it into our rivers and lakes) is the 4th lowest it’s been in 152 years. To put that in perspective: since Memorial Day weekend, we’ve seen around 3½ inches of rain, but only about ½ inch has made it into the river system.
TVA says lake levels are expected to gradually drop throughout the summer, so if you’re planning time on the water, it’s something to keep an eye on.

TVA’s River Management General Manager, James Everett, breaks down what’s happening, why levels are falling, and what lake users need to know this season.
