Looks like the local towers will be staying open until June. Be careful and check NOTAMS before your flights just in case things change.

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is delaying the closing of 149 airport control towers until mid-June in order to deal with legal challenges. The first 24 closures had been scheduled for Sunday.

04/05/2013

It looks like some of the cities of the airports who were being forced to close their towers are fighting back, and assuming responsibility to keep the towers operational.

As of right now Barnes MA, and Nashua NH will not be closing their towers!

Hopefully other cities will follow!

For those of you who have any friends or family that are interested in learning how to fly, the Private Pilot Ground School at the club has just started up, and it is not to late to get in! Have them contact Heidi or Steve at 781-225-5849 before it is to late!

03/28/2013

***Attention Club Pilots: For those of you who have not heard yet, because of budgets cuts the FAA has been forced to close 149 control towers nationwide, which will directly effect our local operations.

For Massachusetts and New Hampshire; Lawrence, Beverly, Worcester, Norwood, New Bedford and Nashua will be closing starting April 7th.

Although we are all familiar with uncontrolled airport operations, these airports are the busiest in our area for student training, and safety will be compromised with the loss of each tower.

Please be sure to review your uncontrolled airport procedures, and seek extra instruction from a club CFI if you are uncomfortable with flying into an uncontrolled airport. It is our responsibility as pilots to keep ourselves and other pilots operating around us safe!

**Tips to Remember at Uncontrolled Airports
- Make appropriate/correct entries into the traffic pattern
- Constantly announce your position over the CTAF or UNICOM
- Keep your eyes outside the airplane and scan for other traffic

03/27/2013

The spring is upon us! All of you pilots who were hibernating for the winter it's time to head out to the club and regain not only your currency, but your proficiency.

Get in touch with one of the club CFI's and schedule a refresher flight, so you can enjoy the summer weather with your family and friends as you fly them to one of great local destinations New England has to offer!

Where do you plan to fly to this summer??
