How are you getting to the Grand Illumination Parade next month? 💡

Taking the Tide light rail and Elizabeth River Ferry is now easier than ever with our weekend pass through TicketLeap! For just $4, you can purchase round trip tickets for light rail and ferry services on November 21.

A few things to know before the big day ⤵️

👉🏼 Kids 17 & under ride free with a fare paying adult. Kids riding alone will either need to pay fare or use a Student Freedom Pass.
👉🏼 More frequent service will occur before and after the parade, but lines at stations and docks might be long. HRT staff will be on hand to help with crowds, but we ask for patience as we work to get everyone safely to and from the event.
👉🏼 Park & Rides are available for free at these stations: Newtown Road, Military Highway & Ballentine/Broad Creek. Make sure to arrive early!

As always, we encourage you to sign up for Customer Alerts on our website to receive service alerts and updates straight to your inbox. 📩

It's Week Without Driving! 🚌💨

From now until October 8, people around the country are going car-free to put themselves in the shoes of those who cannot drive. Teens, individuals with disabilities, seniors, and many others might be in situations where they cannot drive. What does that feel like to experience? Week Without Driving is designed to give others an idea by challenging people to leave their car at home.

Trying transit is a great way to participate! While Week Without Driving typically challenges people for the whole week, we know it's not always easy for people to commit to the entire week. Participating for a day is just fine!

Using OnDemand Rideshare is easy, thanks to the helpful OnDemand App! Here's some tips on how to use it ⤵️

✅ Input your starting and ending locations
✅ Choose the ride time that's best for you
✅ Walk to your pickup point
✅ Track your driver on their way to you
✅ Hop in & enjoy your ride!

Remember, OnDemand Rideshare gets you to and from destinations within a specific zone. You'll need to book rides when you're in the zone, and you can't go between zones. If you want to get to another OnDemand zone, take OnDemand to a public transit space and ride transit to the next zone.
🚘 ➡️ 🚍 ➡️ 🚘

While rides typically arrive within 15 minutes, sometimes higher demand means rides might take a little longer for pickup. The app always has the best information on what rides are available! 🤳

Download the app now and browse our website to see the current zones! 👩‍💻
