Hello everyone we are just 1 month away from the annual Seaboard Festival in Hamlet, NC. There's gonna be some good stuff such as food, drinks, entertainment, and some train action as well. It all starts at 9am and ends around 5pm. We will be there for the event. Hope to see y'all there. [HBD]

Remember to always be safe when you're near railroad tracks. A train could be coming at any given time. Always call the railroad's emergency number in case of a problem. [HBD]

It may not be in Hamlet, NC but CSX, RJ Corman, SARM, and Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp. that made this historic moment happen. These folks help send C&O 2716 off to its journey at Ravenna, KY where it'll go into being restored. The project is said to take up to 2 years enough money is donated into it. Here's CRR 800 from New Haven, KY at the Kentucky Railway Museum. C&O 2716 at Midway, KY and RJ Corman 3856 also in Midway, KY. [HBD]

Amtrak 90 ''Palmetto'' in Hamlet, NC ????

Yes that's right Amtrak 90 ran through Hamlet at one time 5 years ago. This was the time trackwork was being done on the A line up around Parkton which caused 90 to reroute up the S line through Columbia and Camden. This train did make a stop in Hamlet only for a crew change and then proceed north up through Southern Pines, Cary and Raleigh before returning back to the A line in Selma. Someday I wish there was more passenger service in Hamlet. [HBD]

Hope everyone is having a good day today. More content to come within the next few days but for now here's CSX's Honoring Our Veterans and Honoring our 1st Responders in Hamlet, NC. Hats off to the folks at CSX for making these two units.

Brief history of the units. CSX 911 was originally a YN3 painted locomotive. CSX 1776 was originally numbered CSX 3112 and also a YN3 painted locomotive. [HBD]

It is sad to say that this the last time that the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus train will ever roll through Hamlet again. On Monday February 13th, at 1900 hours (7pm) P926-13 the Circus train rolls by Hamlet Ave for the final time enroute to its next show at Philadelphia, PA. Hope you enjoy. Starting sometime in September, Hamlet will see a new double stack train consisting of both International and Domestic containers being shipped from the Port of Wilmington to the Wilmington Terminal Railway (WTRY), then they will interchange the train over to CSX and then they will run it from Wilmington, NC to Charlotte, NC and vice versa. CSX also has made plans to build an intermodal terminal in Rocky Mount, NC which should be ready for operations by 2020.

It's been quite some time now since the last time I posted anything here. For anyone wondering, Amtrak's Exhibit Train will be at the Seaboard Festival this year. It'll arrive into Hamlet before 9am and leave after 5pm.
