It’s good to see this topic get some mainstream media exposure. There are numerous benefits to winter annual grass treatments on a landscape level. One of which is fine fuels reduction projects that reduce the size and spread of wildfires. AV8-ORR Helicopters has been participating in these projects for a number of years and it works.

A ubiquitous, resilient and seemingly harmless plant is fueling an increase in large, fast-moving and destructive wildfires in the United States.

It’s been a very busy winter and spring getting our aircraft and crews ready for the 3023 fire season.
Everyones hard work paid off.
Echo Charlie got called into action today, and is heading to Bigtimber, MT.

AV8-ORR Helicopters is conducting flight crew training in preparation for fire season.

It’s critical that our training scenarios mimic conditions that our pilots are likely to encounter when on fire missions. For this reason we utilize the Bitterroot river and other various water sources near our base.

We realize the aircraft noise from this activity may negatively impact some folks, particularly anglers and residents that live near the river corridor. However this training is necessarily to effectively train in order to be prepared for when fire season arrives.

These flights will not pose a risk to the public or private property.
