Fall has officially arrived at Posey Field—and apparently, so have a few travelers. 😉
These beauties made their way to 1M4 today, bringing a little extra life to the ramp!.

🎶But I know I’ve got one thing I’ve got to do-

You may have heard an unfamiliar noise in the skies over Haleyville the past week or so. If you looked up you might have seen a small craft moving through the air making that noise. What is it though? Pretty small for an airplane, a UFO perhaps? Close, it is actually a UAV, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. It is here in Haleyville for a few weeks gathering atmospheric data, which will hopefully help predict weather. It is commissioned by the Department of Energy. The "Drone" as it is commonly referred to, is called the Artic Shark and you will hear it flying around the area through the month of September. You may see a larger craft trying to catch it, and that is a Twin Otter, a chase plane, that follows it around.

This beautiful Cessna twin lifted off from Posey Field (1M4) this morning, looking absolutely stunning against that Alabama blue sky!

We are pleased to announce that Posey Field, 1M4, now has a licensed aircraft mechanic on the field. Andrew League has set up shop in the Southern Air building and will be offering minor mechanical work and annuals. If looking for local maintenance for your aircraft stop in and meet Andrew.

This beautiful Aeronca L-3b took off from Posey Field for this morning’s flight!

The L-3B was used as an observation plane, VIP transport, and artillery spotter and director by the US Army during World War ll.

✈️Small airplane. Big history.
And we’re lucky enough to have one calling Posey Field home. ❤️🇺🇸
