I have thought about this for some time. This toxic mentality is evident in how nonemergent transportation providers are viewed by the average EMS agency. We provide a vital service and often connect with patients who otherwise are left behind in a busy world. Our staff may be small, but they all have made a difference in some of our patients lives. If this resonates, help us help more by joining us. Training provided!

“It’s not that millennials and alphas don’t want to work; it’s that they don’t want to be lied to anymore, and let’s be honest: EMS has been living a lie for too long.”

We hope everyone is doing their part and staying indoors unless absolutely imperative. Our staff has been diligent in adopting updated safety guidelines to minimize risk as we navigate these unprecedented times. Some of them include: The routine practice of a self assessment (has been implemented from the start), early adoption of high level routine sanitation in between each transport, patient risk assessment and mitigation practices, staying connected with county, state, and federal governments to receive evaluate and implement everchanging daily guidances.
If you are looking to set up a transport, things you can do to help keep us safe include: being honest with yourself and us with respect to your symptoms if any exist, keep in mind anyone you have come in contact with in the last 21 days and whether you learn they have any symptoms. With all of this new information that’s out there it can be daunting and create fear/panic/anxiety. While there is a need for concern, implementing routine practices in your own life can not only keep you safe, it can provide self reassurance promoting better overall mental health. We would like to thank a few members of our community that have contributed to our personal safety - Lena Sperandio and Carla from North Carolina. Lena has been collaborating with various groups to source additional PPE. Additionally Risa and Lisa Ferguson from Burlington NJ. Risa took this pandemic as an opportunity to learn a new skill and with Lisa’s help they have sewn additional masks for our staff to wear. We have been waiting since the beginning of this pandemic for additional N95 masks to come back in stock through our supplier so while we wait we are limiting our current N95 usage through strategic risk assessment and cdc reuse guidelines. The county has been doing what they can to receive allotment from the state and that allotment is very quickly depleted. Though we recognize these are imperfect solutions, they will certainly do their part in reducing associated risk in a majority of our transports. We welcome these alternative solutions as a means of lengthening our N95 stock. Cindy Sargent from Burlington NJ has also made contributions in the form of tie braces for our masks using her personal 3D printer. Knowing her fascination with being innovative I’m sure this is just the beginning for her. A quick shout to local business as well for keeping us in mind, Acme in mount holly sent over gloves in the beginning while we were building stock and Frank, Al, Kathy, and Hope over at our local Napa stores. They have been instrumental in respirator acquisitions. Stay safe and stay alone with us. Additionally, our hope for safe travels continues with all of our EMS partners. We want to see your facemasks of choice and or your out of control hair etc. use the tag to contribute

When shortages in PPE become an issue, our team is left exposed to harmful pollutants. With our current pandemic facing all of us head on, we have to make decisions with a certain level of calculated risk. One of our employees, T. Young, has been resourceful in handling the interlude between shipments. He was able to coordinate production of a prefilter mask to extend our N95 supply. A big thank you to Beryl Fenton and friends for building these masks. They were able to supply our team each with a washable mask 😷 as well as allowing us excess inventory to provide station 399, Hainesport Emergency Squad, as well as Mount Holly Fire Department. This will allow our team to extend the life of our ability to transport our patients to life sustaining treatment.
