FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: May 1, 2026
United Airlines Announces Revised Launch Date for Chicago O’Hare Service to Marquette
Marquette, MI — United Airlines has announced a revision to the planned launch of its new
service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Marquette Sawyer Regional
Airport (MQT). This adjustment is the result of operational limitations established under a recent
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) order affecting capacity at O’Hare.
As a result, the inaugural ORD–MQT service will now commence on October 25, 2026,
consistent with the anticipated expiration of the current FAA capacity restrictions.
Customers who have already secured reservations for the affected service will be given the
option to rebook on alternative flights or to receive a full refund.
“While this delay is regrettable, we recognize the importance of adhering to federal operational
requirements,” said David Erhart/Airport Manager. “We appreciate United Airlines’ continued
partnership and commitment to establishing this service for the Marquette community, and we
look forward to its launch later this year.”
For further information, passengers are encouraged to visit United.com or contact United
Airlines customer service.

The parking lot at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport is officially cleared after several hours of hard work from the MSRA maintenance team! ❄️

A huge thank you to each and every employee who has been working long shifts since Sunday to keep the runway clear and ensure the parking lot is now accessible for passengers.

With 54 inches of heavy snowfall—breaking a 30-year record—this was no small task. Your dedication and commitment do not go unnoticed.

Great job to all of our hardworking staff! 👏

🐾✈️ Drop-In Employee Spotlight: K-9 Zeke ✈️🐾

In 2024, the Forsyth Township Police Department proudly welcomed a new four-legged officer to the team thanks to the generosity of an incredible donor and the support of the community.

Meet K-9 Zeke, a high-energy black Labrador whose specialties include explosive detection and tracking. Zeke plays an important role in helping keep both our community and Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport safe.

Zeke works alongside his handler, Cpl. Cassie Smith, and together they assist with safety operations at the airport, providing an additional layer of security for passengers, staff, and visitors.

We are grateful for the dedication and partnership of Forsyth Township Police Department, Cpl. Smith, and K-9 Zeke in helping keep our airport and community safe.

🐶 If you see Zeke working around the airport, be sure to give him a wave (while he’s on duty, of course)!

We appreciate the dedication and hard work that both Zeke and Cpl. Smith bring to their roles every day. Thank you for your service!

❄️✈️ Snow? Look at those banks ✈️❄️

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula winters do not hold back and neither does the snowfall at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport. So far this year, we have received nearly 13 feet of snow! That is a lot of plowing, blowing, and hauling to keep our airfield operational.
Every inch adds up, and our airfield quickly transforms into a full-scale snow operation before, during, and after each storm. From runway clearing to ramp maintenance and snow removal operations across the airfield, it takes constant effort to stay ahead of a U.P. winter.
Thanks to the dedication of our incredible staff, here at MSRA that continues to operate safely and efficiently despite the impressive snowfall totals. Their hard work ensures that aircraft can arrive and depart safely, no matter how much snow falls.
👏 A huge shout out to our ENTIRE team for their tireless efforts and commitment this winter. Nearly 13 feet down, and they are still going strong! Pictured from left to right are just a few of our afternoon shift workers, Owen Hansen, Chris Mahler, Austin Peterson, and Riley Hansen.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Owen Hansen 🌟
Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport is proud to recognize Owen Hansen, who joined our team in 2023 as an Airport Maintenance Technician. Since coming on board, Owen has played an important role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and day-to-day operations that keep MSRA running smoothly.
In addition to his work at the airport, Owen has dedicated the past 12 years to serving our community as a firefighter with the Tri-Township Fire Department. His commitment to public service both on and off the airfield reflects the strong sense of responsibility and teamwork he brings to everything he does.
Owen is also newly married, and he and his wife enjoy spending time outdoors skiing, hiking, camping, and taking walks with the newest addition to their family, Paju 🐾
Aviation is more than just a job for Owen it’s a true passion. Whether he’s in the passenger’s seat of a plane or capturing aircraft through the lens of his camera, his enthusiasm for flight is evident.
Thank you, Owen, for your dedication to MSRA and to the community we proudly serve! ✈️🚒
