At 01:10, tired, cold, and far from home, our yacht Minerva dropped out of the Rolex Sydney to Hobart.
What happened next is something we’ll carry with us for the rest of our lives.

At 02:00, Roger pulled up alongside us and simply said, “Alright, I can take six.”
No questions. No hesitation.

We’d never met Roger or Rebecca before that moment. Yet they welcomed us into their home in Eden, Australia, gave us a hot shower, a warm bed, and before we could even sit down, Rebecca was in the kitchen making eggs, bacon, toast, and sausages — feeding a group of exhausted strangers in the middle of the night.

This kind of kindness isn’t something you see everywhere in the world — but it’s the kind we should all lead our lives with.

This is the community of Eden.
This is what sailing is really about.
Looking after one another when it matters most.

When we thanked them, they asked for only one thing: pay it forward.
We promise we will.

Roger and Rebecca — you will always have a place in our hearts. ❤️⛵️

Cabbage Tree Race Start 🥬🌴

What a way to open up one of the signature lead-ins to the Sydney Hobart ⚡️ Today we lined up aboard Minerva (Ker 40) for the start and this one definitely had some spice.

🔊 Turn the volume up and listen in to Harri calling the start from the back of the boat—textbook composure under pressure.

We even managed to luff Celestial (yep, the Volvo 70) right off the line 👀 And somehow caught a front-row view of LawConnect tearing a jib. Wild start. Thanks for watching, and remember, it’s hard to be slow when you’re sailing fast!

🚨🚨🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨🚨🚨

We are incredibly proud to share that Nicholas Kurta has been nominated for the 2025 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year.

This nomination reflects years of commitment, offshore miles, long nights, tough conditions, and the relentless drive to represent the United States at the highest level. From the Great Lakes to Europe to Australia, Nicholas has shown what dedication and passion for this sport can create — and this recognition is a milestone we’re honored to celebrate.

Today’s announcement comes from the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, where Nicholas is preparing aboard Minerva, a Ker 40, ahead of the Cabbage Tree Race. A fitting backdrop for a moment like this — surrounded by world-class sailors and another challenge on the horizon.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey. This nomination means the world, and the story is only getting started. 🇺🇸⛵️
