We’re proud to introduce Steve Hernandez, our new Director of Compliance, a logistics, transportation, compliance, and carrier relations leader with more than 20 years of combined logistics experience, including over a decade in the commercial transportation industry.

Steve served nearly 15 years in the United States Air Force, specializing in personnel and logistics planning while supporting operations, deployments, and assignments around the world. His military service and professional career have taken him to more than 27 countries, giving him a global perspective on leadership, logistics, risk management, and complex operations.

Throughout his transportation career, Steve has developed extensive expertise in carrier qualification and vetting, carrier relations, compliance, fraud prevention, transportation technology, and risk management. He is also a member of the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Fraud Task Force, collaborating with industry professionals to identify and combat cargo theft, identity fraud, double brokering, and other emerging threats.

Outside of work, Steve is a husband and proud father of six who enjoys spending time with his family and has a lifelong passion for music, with 311 holding the top spot as his favorite band. Whether it’s family, music, or transportation, Steve brings plenty of passion to the things that matter most to him.

Freight fraud is on the rise, and it's becoming harder to spot.

Did you know that a legitimate MC number doesn't always mean you're working with the actual carrier?

Red flags to watch for: 🔴 Recently changed phone numbers or email addresses 🔴 Requests to rush the load tender process 🔴 Equipment that doesn't match the carrier's profile 🔴 Unusual email domains or contact information 🔴 Last-minute changes to driver or truck details

Before you tender a load, take a moment to verify the carrier's identity, not just their MC number.

A few extra minutes can save thousands in losses and prevent major service disruptions.

State of U.S. Flatbed Capacity: Summer 2026

Industry data shows the national flatbed load-to-truck ratio recently remained above 55 loads for every truck posted, with spring highs exceeding 70 loads per truck—nearly 60% above the five-year average. At the same time, flatbed spot rates are running approximately 15-30% higher than year-ago levels, signaling a market where demand continues to outpace available capacity in many regions.

Earlier this year, flatbed tender rejection rates climbed above 40%, indicating carriers were turning down contracted freight in favor of stronger opportunities in the spot market. Steel output is also running roughly 5% ahead of last year, helping sustain freight demand across key industrial corridors.
