In remembrance of Jim Melrose
My father passed away on August 6th peacefully at home in Greenport, NY. Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War, founder of Melrose Marine Service and a general innovator working to build better marine construction equipment and improve on dredging processes. I owe a lot to my dad who was willing give me a chance. Even as a youngster he’d let me shift barges with the tug and run the cranes, so long as I could reach the break pedals. Jim enjoyed helping people and was very generous with his wisdom and vast knowledge of marine construction. We are having a celebration of Jim’s life on Wednesday afternoon August 29th at Greenport Yacht and Shipbuilding. So if you’d like to show your respects or if you’d like to share stories of Jim please feel free to stop by. No need to get dressed up, Jim hated that s**t. At Melrose we don't just build marine structures we service them as well. Our seasonal service includes an inspection of the entire structure. New pier framed out and ready for decking. The new pier will feature Ipe tropical hardwood decking and handrails. Work is scheduled to be completed for commissioning of the 2016 season. At the Port Washington Yacht Club

Putting the final touches on a 286' revetment in Lloyd Harbor. Previously the shoreline was fortified with concrete debris and was eroding badly. Melrose crews removed all debris and restored the shoreline using blasted angular stone. Docks, Bulkheads, Shoreline Stabilization Environmental Restoration and Remediation we do it all at Melrose
