National Capital Parks - East is excited to announce a brand-new Trail Ambassador volunteer position! This role involves monitoring and maintaining sections of the Civil War Defenses of Washington Trail in southeast/northeast Washington, DC.

The trail winds 6.5 miles from Fort Mahan Park to Fort Stanton Park through other Civil War-era forts and can be traversed in either direction. As a Trail Ambassador, you’ll select a portion of the pathway to regularly walk, report on, and conserve, proving indispensable in:

--Informing Park Service staff of trail conditions 🌱
--Actively working to improve trail quality ⛏️
--Assisting visitors and answering questions 🙋
--Removing litter & invasive species 🗑️🥀

Friday, May 15th - 7:30 PM - "Welcome to Washington!". Join the rangers for the best program on Washington, DC! Learn the tips and tricks for visiting our nation's capital!

Saturday, May 16th - 8:00 PM - The Drum Circle returns to Greenbelt Park! Come join us in a truly unique program as we drum for wellness and community!

Sunday, May 17th - 1:00 PM - Nature Hike with A Ranger! Join a Ranger at Dogwood Trail Parking lot for a nature hike! Lasting about an hour and going for about a mile, we talk about the flora and fauna of Greenbelt Park!

Saturday - 8:00 PM - "World Migratory Bird Day!" - Join Ranger Jodi as they go over the ways to identify migratory birds and how important they are to our ecosystems!
