Capacity shouldn’t keep you up at night.

If there’s one thing I hear again and again from shippers, it’s how hard it is to secure consistent capacity — especially during seasonal spikes.

Our Van Truckload network gives you access to one of the largest truckload fleets in North America, which means more trucks, more flexibility and fewer last‑minute scrambles. When markets tighten, VTL helps keep your freight moving without the daily fire drills.

For teams that deal with shifting volumes or tight markets, having more flexible capacity options can make it easier to stay ahead of demand and reduce daily uncertainty.

I’ve noticed the jobs that stick are the ones that feel steady over time.

Not every driving role is built the same. Some are more short-term, while others are set up with reliable freight and defined schedules that help you find a rhythm.

From what I’ve seen, that consistency makes a difference. It’s easier to think long-term when you’re not wondering what the next load looks like. Over time, drivers can also move between fleets or take on roles like training or mentoring.

If you’re someone who’s thinking beyond just the next mile and looking for something more steady, that kind of setup can help you settle in and grow.

I know how quickly disruptions and rising costs can start to weigh on a supply chain.

I've found flexibility is about being able to adjust your approach when conditions change—not just sticking with what’s always been done.

I’ve been seeing more conversations around how teams are building resilience into their networks—looking at ways to scale when demand shifts, refine processes and find more efficient ways to manage cost and performance at the same time.

That kind of flexibility makes a difference. When your supply chain can adapt, it’s easier to navigate uncertainty, stay aligned with demand and keep things moving without overcorrecting every time something changes.

🚛 For the drivers out here every day.

The wheels keep turning because drivers show up and get it done.

As someone who works alongside drivers, I'm always impressed by the commitment and reliability it takes to keep freight moving day after day. The miles, early mornings and late nights are what keep shelves stocked, businesses running and communities connected. I'm grateful for the work drivers do and the experience they bring to the road every day.

What's one lesson the road has taught you over the years?

If there's one theme that keeps coming up in conversations about freight risk, it's visibility.

My colleague Rodney Cromwell, Vice President - Commercial, Enterprise Sales, spends a lot of time talking with shippers and brokers about the risks that chameleon carriers bring.

I recently read his article where he describes a chameleon carrier as one that shuts down after safety violations, compliance issues or fraud concerns, then reopens under a new name. On paper, they look brand-new and reliable. In reality, they may be the same operation with the same risks.

How are you spotting the carriers that don't add up?

Thinking about your next move on the road? Consistency can make a difference.

Intermodal driving is one path I recommend drivers consider when they want a mix of road and rail freight. At Schneider, that network has been running for 35 years, moving freight through established lanes and rail partnerships. Freight moves by both truck and train, with routes built around ramp locations and scheduled loads, and options that can include local, regional and some cross-border runs.

I've seen for many drivers, intermodal comes down to predictability in the day-to-day. Miles are often tied to planned routes, and freight moves through reliable, established lanes, which can make it easier to plan ahead.

This type of driving often fits drivers who like having a set rhythm to their schedule, live near rail ramps or prefer working within established freight patterns. It’s one of several paths out there, depending on how you like to run and what your day-to-day looks like.
