New Express Service Starts Today! 🚌

Starting Today, August 31, The Rapid is making more bus trips available to customers!

Most buses but not all travel between The Rapid’s Operations Center and the ends of the line before and after regular service day begins and ends. These trips (called deadhead in transit speak) have traditionally been unavailable to customers.

Now, you can ride them!
These are a direct Express alignment between the Operations Center and the end of the line and back, and provide a faster, direct connection between downtown Grand Rapids and the ends of select routes, with no stops along the way.

Check your route schedule for specific Express Service times and stops.

More trips. More direct connections. More ways to get where you’re going.

New Express Access Service begins August 31, 2026.

WELCOME BACK LAKERS — The Rapid is ready to welcome students aboard! 🚌📚

Last year, the Laker Line BRT averaged 27,840 trips every week, connecting students and riders between Walker and Grand Rapids—including GVSU’s Pew Campus—and the main GVSU campus in Allendale.

That’s a lot of trips, a lot of classes and a lot of West Michigan students getting where they need to go.

Whether you’re heading to your first class, your last class, or somewhere in between, welcome back! We’re glad to have you aboard. 🎓🚌

There is an East Grand Rapids Fine Art Fair starting on Friday 6/5/26 at 7am. The closure / detour will last until 7pm on Sunday 6/7/26.
