Loading a moving truck efficiently is a crucial part to ensure the safety of your belongings and to maximize space. Below is a guide to help you load your moving truck properly if you choose to not hire a company to do it for you.
🧱 1. Build a Strong Foundation
Begin by loading your heaviest items, such as appliances (refrigerator, washer/dryer) and large furniture pieces (dressers, sofas), at the front of the truck near the cab. This placement helps distribute weight evenly and provides a stable base for stacking other items.
📦 2. Stack Boxes Strategically
Place heavier boxes on top of the sturdy furniture base, followed by medium-weight boxes, and then lighter boxes on top. Ensure boxes are packed tightly to prevent shifting during transit. Fill any gaps with soft items like pillows or linens to cushion and secure the load.
🛏️ 3. Position Mattresses and Sofas Vertically
Stand mattresses and sofas on their sides along the truck’s walls to save space. Protect them with covers or blankets to prevent damage. This vertical placement allows for more floor space and helps in organizing other items around them.
