🚨 IMPORTANT TRAVEL UPDATE: REAL ID ACT ALERT 🚨
Starting May 7, 2025, the federal government will enforce the REAL ID Act, impacting domestic air travel and access to federal facilities. Are you prepared? Here's what you need to know:
What is the REAL ID Act?
The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and ID cards. After the enforcement date, only REAL ID-compliant IDs or approved forms of identification (like a passport) will be accepted for:
Boarding domestic flights.
Entering federal buildings or military bases.
Key Dates to Remember
📅 Now–May 2025:
Check your ID for a REAL ID star. Most REAL ID-compliant cards feature a star in the upper corner.
If your ID doesn’t have a star, visit your local Secretary of State or DMV to upgrade.
📅 May 7, 2025:
Enforcement begins. You will need a REAL ID, passport, or other federally approved ID to fly domestically or enter federal facilities.
How to Prepare
✅ Check Your Documents: Ensure your current ID is REAL ID-compliant.
✅ Gather Required Documents: To apply for a REAL ID, bring proof of identity, Social Security number, and residency (e.g., birth certificate, Social Security card, utility bills).
✅ Plan Ahead: DMV offices may experience delays as the deadline approaches. Apply early to avoid long wait times!
