Aviation Training Scholarship Offered

Applications are now available for aviation scholarships to be awarded in 2025 by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization. The scholarships are open to anyone that aspires to a career in the aviation industry, including flight training leading to a pilot’s license, or advanced ratings, or other aviation careers. Up to two $2,500 scholarships may be awarded, including training materials. The scholarships are made possible by funds raised through the annual Eagles Fly-In/Drive-in Breakfast and private donations. The winners will be announced at the Eagles annual meeting, Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Applicants must be 15 years or older and be enrolled within a year of acceptance of the scholarship into an aviation training program with a Certified Flight Instructor, or with an accredited aviation curriculum. The scholarship is limited to Minnesota, Cook County or Lake County, residents. Prior applicants are encouraged to reapply. Application forms are available at the Cook County airport, 123 Airport Road, and Cook County Schools. The final deadline for submitting the application is April 18th, 2025.
In addition to pilot training, aviation careers include maintenance technicians, airport management, airline scheduler/dispatcher, aviation sales, FAA air traffic controllers, airport operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems pilots and technicians, and aeronautical engineers.
The Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization (AEAO) is comprised of individuals interested in supporting local aviation, aircraft owners and pilots. AEAO is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission is to support Cook County’s airport and aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and opportunities, and to encourage community use and a friendly atmosphere at the Grand Marais/Cook County airport.

The Annual Grand Marais/Cook County Airport Fly-in/Drive-In pancake breakfast will be Saturday, September 28th at the Grand Marais airport. Note the date was moved back one week to coincide with more fall colors, and to hopefully bring in more pilots from around the region. The annual event is sponsored by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization, a local 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization that seeks to support the local airport and provide aviation scholarships to local citizens. Join the Eagles for breakfast with blueberry pancakes and sausage links, and enjoy watching airplanes come and go, and see vintage airplanes on display. There will be discount airplane rides, weather permitting, and lots of fall colors to view from the air!

The event venue is the Sawtooth Aviation hangar at 123 Airport Road, Grand Marais - The Grand Marais/Cook County Airport. Saturday, September 28th, from 8:00AM to 11:00AM. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for kids under 16.

The Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization (AEAO) will provide a $2,500 scholarship to anyone that aspires to a career in the aviation industry or wishes to pursue flight training leading to a pilot’s license. This will be the 6th aviation scholarship awarded by the Eagles, a Cook County based non-profit with a mission to provide support to aviation in our community. The scholarship is made possible by funds raised through the annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast and personal donations to the Eagles. The scholarship winner will be announced at the Eagles annual meeting, Saturday, May 18th at Skyport Lodge.
Applicants must be 15 years or older, and must be enrolled within a year of acceptance of the scholarship into an aviation training program with an accredited aviation curriculum, or a Certified Flight Instructor. The scholarship is limited to Minnesota Cook County or Lake County residents. Prior applicants are encouraged to reapply. Color season is on!

Fall Color Fly-In: KCKC, Grand Marais/Cook County Airport, September 16, 2023, 8:00AM to 11:00AM.
Join the local community celebrate 75 years of aviation in Cook County. Pancake Breakfast, awards, history, static aircraft displays including antique airplanes. Recognition of Clarence Krotz who built the old Devil Track airport dedicated in 1948 and the Founders of the new CKC airport that was dedicated in 1993 will be part of a short ceremony at 10:00. Historical Society booth. Hopeful display by USFS of fire suppression aircraft. Sponsored by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization, a charitable organization which helps support the airport and gives away an annual student scholarship.
