I get messages like this after trips sometimes, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop getting a little emotional when I read them.

Because THIS is why I love what I do.

It’s not just about planning a beautiful trip. It’s knowing that someone came home happy, proud of herself, full of stories, maybe a little more confident…and already missing the adventure.

Travel has such a way of reminding us what we’re capable of. It gets us out of our routines, asks us to try something new, and sometimes sends us home just a little different than when we left.

Getting to play even a small part in that for another woman is pretty dang special.

There are some places that make you stop and think… I cannot believe I’m actually here. 🇮🇹⛰️

But what makes a place like this even better? The women standing beside you.

In September 2027, we’re heading into the Italian Dolomites for a week of big views, beautiful hikes, e-biking through Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine meadow, incredible food, mountain villages, and plenty of moments that push us just outside our comfort zones.

And somewhere between the trails, the shared meals, the laughter, and cheering each other on, something else happens.

Strangers become friends. Women remind other women what they’re capable of. And you go home with so much more than photos.

You don’t have to be the fastest.
You don’t have to be the most adventurous.
You don’t have to know anyone before you come.

Just show up as you are.

Have you ever been on a trip and thought…

“I can’t believe I almost didn’t do this.”

Maybe the timing wasn’t perfect. Work was busy. You didn’t have anyone to go with. Or staying home just felt easier.

But you said yes anyway.

And then there you were — somewhere new, laughing with people you may not have even known a few days before, having experiences you never could have planned from home.

I think some of our very best memories start with a decision we almost talked ourselves out of.

And I’ve watched that happen over and over again on Sunny & Turquoise trips.

I spent 30 years in the restaurant business.

It was what I knew. It was comfortable. It was a huge part of who I was.

And then I sold my restaurant and walked away without really knowing what was next.

There was no big master plan. No perfectly mapped-out second chapter. I just knew I was ready for something different.

Looking back, I think sometimes we stay where we are because we know how to be that version of ourselves. Stepping into something unknown can feel a whole lot scarier.

But not knowing what was next gave me the space to figure it out along the way.

And I’m so grateful I did.

Because the life I have now — the women I’ve met, the places I’ve traveled, this Sunny & Turquoise community and the person I’ve become along the way — wasn’t something I could have planned back then.

Sometimes courage isn’t having the whole plan.

Sometimes it’s simply trusting yourself enough to take the first step. 🩵

Some places you visit. Others stay with you.

India feels like one of those places. 🧡

Sunrise in the rose fields. The Taj Mahal in the evening light. Sacred rituals, colorful streets, incredible food and moments that are hard to explain until you’re standing right there experiencing them.

This isn’t just a trip to India. It’s a chance to experience a place that asks you to slow down, look a little deeper and take it all in — alongside a small group of women doing the same.

And I cannot wait to go back. 🇮🇳

Maybe you’re torn between mountains and the sea. Hiking and adventure or slow mornings and long lunches. Italy, Greece, Mexico… or somewhere completely different.

One of my favorite things is talking with women about how they actually like to travel — what sounds fun, what doesn’t, how active they want to be and, most importantly, how they want to feel on the trip.

DOLOMITES ANNOUNCEMENT! 🇮🇹🏔️

But was it really worth flying to Italy for a hike?

Absolutely.

There is something about experiencing a place on foot that sightseeing alone can’t give you.

You climb. You breathe harder. Your legs get tired. You keep going. And somewhere along the way, everything else gets quieter.

For a little while, your world becomes the trail in front of you, the women beside you and the view around the next turn.

That is one of the things I love most about active travel. It reminds you what your body can do. It brings you fully into the moment. And it gives you that incredible feeling of reaching a place you truly worked for.

You may come for the mountains, but you leave remembering how strong, capable and alive you felt in them.

So, was it worth flying to Italy for a hike?

Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes. 🥾🇮🇹

A good trip should change your pace, not just your place. ☀️

One of the things I love most about travel is how quickly it can remind us to slow down and actually enjoy where we are.

I love a little adventure — the kind of day that leaves you saying, “I can’t believe we just did that!” But I also love slow mornings, long lunches, wandering through a beautiful little town, being outside, and a glass of wine with nowhere else we need to be. 🍷

That’s the balance I try to bring to every Sunny & Turquoise trip.

We’ll hike the mountain, take the boat, try something new and see the places we came all that way to experience. But there’s also room to linger over dinner, wander into a shop that catches your eye, laugh until your stomach hurts, or simply sit and take it all in.

Because the best trips aren’t about how much we can squeeze into a week. They’re about how that week makes us feel.

The older I get—and maybe especially on birthdays—the more I realize what a gift it is to have a body that can carry me through this world.

Up the hills. Down the trails. Through places that take my breath away and remind me just how much there still is to see.

I’m less interested in counting the years and more interested in being grateful for what those years still allow me to do.

To move. To explore. To travel. To stand somewhere beautiful in Greece and think, I can’t believe I get to be here.

And maybe that’s one of the reasons travel means more to me now than ever. It’s not just about seeing beautiful places. It’s about being IN them. Walking through them. Feeling them. Sharing them with other women. And realizing what a privilege it is that we get to experience any of this at all.

So on my birthday today, I’m feeling especially grateful for another year—and very excited about all the places I haven’t seen yet.

And if Greece has been calling you too… stay close. 🇬🇷☀️
