On April 4, 2024, Glenwood Springs City Council finalized a lease agreement for management of the Glenwood Springs Airport with a newly formed nonprofit KGWS Sumers Airpark, with an effective date of May 1, 2024.
The lease states an initial term of 20 years, with the opportunity to renew the agreement twice, each for a period of 10 years. The purpose of the long-term lease is to encourage a well-functioning and maintained facility, led by airport users.
